Carer Electric Forklift Solutions recently closed the sale for five model A80/900 electric forklifts for a wood processing facility in the Southern USA. These units have a 17,500 lb lift capacity at a 36″ load center and will maintain this lift capacity to almost 20 ft.

Carer has 46 different chassis options between 10,000 lbs and 55,000 lbs lift capacity. After a detailed application review, including an in-depth utilization analysis, it was determined that the monthly operational cost savings far outweighed the initial acquisition costs. Additionally once all costs were considered, including the requirements for the replacement of the equivalent sized diesel unit, the ROI produced was well under 18 months.

The Carer model A80/900 units are supplied with lithium iron phosphate batteries. The chargers included have a 500 amp output that will produce ultra-fast charging for the batteries, eliminating the need for spares. Furthermore, using the lithium batteries eliminates the need to rely on operators or maintenance personnel to maintain the batteries, as they require zero maintenance. These lithium iron phosphate batteries also have an exceptionally long usable life, are completely safe to use in an industrial application, are easy to recycle at end of life, and are expected to easily last for the usable life of the Carer forklift.

The operations manager was very excited about eliminating fuel costs from his monthly operating costs while also eliminating hassles associated with delivery. The facility is currently analyzing the installation of solar panels to recover enough energy to take the forklifts “off grid” and operate without energy costs.
